Brač is the most connected island in the Middle Adriatic region.
If you are arriving by car:
Main connection of the island with mainland is the ferry line Split-Supetar. During high season there is a ferry almost every hour. Tickets can be bought in advance, and are issued for a specific day but not the exact hour, so you can board any ferry that goes that day. Our advice is to arrive to the harbor, park at the queue for Supetar and only then go on foot to the main Jadrolinija building, 100 meters away, to buy the ticket.
Other ferry line is from Makarska to Sumartin. This line is served by small ferries which often can't accommodate all cars, so our advice is to arrive several hours in advance, put the car in the queue for the ferry, and then take a walk around Makarska, and spend some time at the excellent bar and pastry shop “Romana” right across the ferry dock. If you are arriving from the island of Hvar by car, brace yourselves, it will take some time!
First, you have to arrive to the mainland (Split or Drvenik), and then from Split or Makarska take the ferry.
If you are arriving without a car:
From Split: Jadrolinija operates a catamaran line Split-Bol(Brač)-Jelsa(Hvar) throught the year with Mon-Thu departures from Split at 16.00 and Fri at 16.30. During high season 1st June – 30th September daily departures at 16.30. Additionally, during high season there are two extra catamaran lines: Krilo with departures at 07.30h and Jadrolinija at 16.15h
From Hvar: Excursion boat Frane has daily departures around 15.00h from Hvar town. You can buy the one-way Hvar-Bol ticket on board. It is necessary to arrive earlier and verify the exact location where the boat will be, since it is an excursion boat. It is best to wait its arrival to Hvar in the morning around 11.00h and check with the captain when and where is the departure for Bol. From Jelsa there is a daily Jadrolinija catamaran line at 06.00h. During high season there are additional excursion boats from Jelsa, Hvar and Stari Grad but for their exact departure times it is necessary to check in each of these towns.
From Dubrovnik: During high season there are two catamaran lines, at 07.00h Jadrolinija and at 16.00h Krilo. Ticket should be bought in advance and you can do it online. If you are coming during low season it is best to take a bus to Split and then a ferry to Supetar or catamaran to Bol.
